Abbey Nichols-Henderson

BA (Hons) Fine Art

BA Fine Art Photograph by Abbey Nichols-Henderson showing a found object sculpture created by putting a crab shell on top of a can of vanilla nurishment.

My practice is based around found objects, their aesthetics and exploring how they can be joined or altered to create new forms, often juxtaposing man-made and natural objects. I began this way of working in late 2019, just before the pandemic started. My original intention with found objects was to focus on textures, but the pandemic forced me to reimagine the way I was working and exhibiting my work.

BA Fine Art Photograph by Abbey Nichols-Henderson of a 3D printed crab shell, painted in acrylic, on top of a can of vanilla nurishment.

This led me to start creating found object sculptures and photographing them in a very clinical way, aiming to create the experience of an exhibition through social media.
Although my practice began around physical found objects, I have begun photographing found objects and using programs such as Blender, Reality Capture and Fusion 360 to create digital found object sculptures, allowing me to begin exploring the world of NFTs and Crypto Art.
