Abigail McBroom

BA (Hons) Photography

BA Photography work by Abi McBroom showing imagery of disabled people with bright colour and light.

I am a beauty and still life photographer who is driven by my attention to detail and focus on presenting authenticity. My detail-oriented approach comes from prior experience in the field, having transitioned from being a freelance make-up artist into the role of a photographer.

As I work on my portfolio now, I am trying to understand how to hold the audience’s gaze by experimenting with different colour composites and tonality.

I aim to create a piece of beauty imagery that holds a narrative for the viewer, making it feel less about trying to sell you a product and more about seeing texture and beauty in how each face and object differs when examined close-up.

As a person with ASD, it is very important for me to see representation of all types of people. My present project ‘Overlooked Beauty’ aims to represent people with disability within a beauty space.
