Alexander Christopher Philip Essex

BA (Hons) Animation

I am an animator specialising in CG with a generalist approach to the medium. My animation journey has been magnified by the BA Animation course, giving me opportunities to try new things, as I originally started in stop-motion but wanted to try-out more digital practices.

Despite not knowing any CG prior, I am now knowledgeable in Maya, Redshift, Substance Painter, Arnold and ZBrush, as well as rigging, rendering and texturing. This was thanks to the final film. I created focusing on every aspect of the CG pipeline including aspects I had not tackled before.

By collaborating with other students, I’ve been able to improve my skills in directing, time-management and giving valuable feedback in a group dynamic thus creating a large amount of work within a short space of time. Completing my course through lockdown and Covid-19 has improved my organisation skills and my adaptability to changing environments through working from home and finding success in stressful situations.
