Alice Wisbey
BA (Hons) Fine Art
Alice Wisbey’s practice tends to be multidisciplinary and includes many different forms of creating art, including combining sculptural forms, mark making and found objects to create artefacts. It consists of exploring the materiality of non-traditional artistic mediums from discarded, industrial or household waste such as MDF, chipboard, cardboard and manipulating them through the means of play, destruction and reconstruction, allowing the materials to speak for themselves.
Arte Informale and Arte Povera are both large influences on Wisbey’s practice as those movements highlighted the aesthetic of raw and found materials as a way to express what was happening around and within them. The aim of Wisbey’s work is to express themselves through the process of playing with the materials whilst keeping the integrity and uniqueness of the original medium.
