BA (Hons) Illustration
Amelia Hayman
Within my practise as an illustrator, I like to use stimulus that takes from personal memories, experiences and spaces. I enjoy finding commonality in the things and places I love with the people around me, so that everyone can relate to the subjects of my work. Place and the human experience is something I find fascinating, and so I enjoy researching on this topic.
I enjoy experimenting with many forms of media, whether this is traditional use of gouache and pen, using photoshop and Procreate to create and alter digital work, or dabbling into 3D. I am also interested in using household objects to create work, such as through the use of home made rubber stamps.
At university, I feel as though I was able to develop as an artist and find what my niche was going to be. I struggled a lot with finding my voice and my confidence as an artists, but throughout my 3 years, I can see how much I have grown. I have also been able to pick up many new skills, such as using photoshop and illustrator, or going into the 3D studio to create dioramas.
