BA (Hons) Fashion
This degree has developed me as a designer in many ways, giving me many transferable skills. Working in a team has been crucial, helping me to offer, respond to and accept constructive criticism in a healthy way – bouncing right back into perfecting my work. I have found myself to be more imaginative while working to the briefs we were given, as well as being creative with problem solving on the go and juggling many different types of projects.
My work experience in a fashion high street wholesaler allowed me to gain an up close and personal point of view of an area of the industry that I could be working in. My Graduate collection focusses on the duality of women and the ability to be both soft and strong. It also focusses on female sexual liberation after being used as machines for most of history. I also decided that designing plus size garments for inclusive fashion was extremely important, requiring me to develop skills through my workshop practice. I feel this gives me a unique edge as a designer and sets me aside from others.
While I aim to continue creatively developing myself, I feel entirely prepared for the industry ahead of me.
