Anya O'Mahony

BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production

BA Film and Moving Image Production work by Anya O'Mahony showing a still frame of a younger and older man in deep discussion stood in a street.

During my last year at university, whilst the pandemic was changing the meaning of every facet of life that I had known and grown complacent with, I took a deep interest in learning about world culture and the wonder of the human condition; I wanted to question and explore the world I lived in.

From studying Modern Korean and delving into the country’s rich culture, to taking more of an apt interest in human rights, and finally developing and exploring a meaningful story about the stigma of Sex-work in the UK through my grad-film; I have found that what inspires me most as a filmmaker is telling stories that have impact and can change the thoughts of even one person. I believe there is no greater power to instigate change and the challenge that comes with that is something I aspire to fulfil in my future work as a story-teller.
