Ash Rushton

BA (Hons) Illustration

BA Illustration work by Ash Rushton that shows a sad portrait created in black ink on an old diary page.

I am a creative who loves a challenge and is passionate about pushing my practice to its limit. Graduating with a BA Illustration degree has helped me develop my practice and enhance my skills and knowledge. For my final major project, I set myself the challenge of learning how to animate from scratch. This was in order to respond to a piece of music and create an animation to raise awareness for mental health. Being a determined and motivated individual allowed me to independently gain in-depth knowledge on how to animate and learn industry software skills to animate my illustrations. This experience has had a huge impact on my practice. It has enabled me to become a more flexible and adaptable artist with a wide range of skills, techniques, and ways of working, which include illustration, animation and moving image.
