Beth Murcott

BA (Hons) Animation

A collection of grey-scale and coloured drawings showing different poses and interactions between the 2 main characters in my student film ‘Unmasked’.
NUA Award Winner

My degree in BA Animation has taught me skills that will help my aspiring career as a storyboard artist and illustrator, such as giving me an insight into movement and the ways to effectively tell a story by understanding the audience. I am confident working with a range of software, including 2D programmes like Adobe Creative Cloud and Procreate, as well as 3D software such as Blender and Maya. My interest in storyboard art and narrative illustration derives from several artist’s work: the most influential ones being Joe Johnston’s storyboards for the Star Wars films, along with the comic book art of Sara Pichelli. I draw from artists like these and my interests in adventure and sci-fi genres to inspire my own work.

Winner of the UKIE Student Games Jam 2021

Collaborating on the Guppledorf group project enabled me to develop my team working and communication skills during the COVID-19 pandemic. I believe that, by staying resilient during this time, I have better prepared myself for a future career in the entertainment industry.
