BA (Hons) Textile Design
Callisto Ryder-Dixon
I am a creative designer who has developed practical and technical skills in the use of print, CAD, embellishment and digital manipulation. I work with textiles and non-textile materials in bold, abstract and colourful ways.
Inspiration from the land and sea surrounding my home on the North Norfolk coast is echoed in my practice. My passion for conserving the ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’ facilitated my research report on plastic pollution in the ocean and led me to experiment with a variety of different materials including discarded plastic. As a keen photographer I let the movements, shapes and abstractions within my photography influence my work.
I have worked with artists in Yorkshire and the Eastern region on site, exploring their innovative ways of working. These experiences have helped me embrace new challenges and develop my skills in flexible thinking and adaptability as an independent artist and practitioner.
