BA (Hons) Fine Art
I am currently exploring methods of communication, in particular non-verbal communication; semaphore, sign language, smoke signals, Morse Code and Braille. My experiments into Braille have led to 3D work including plaster, bronze casting and aluminium punched with messages. I have also created a proposal for a land art Braille piece that can only be read from the air. More recently I have been exploring Morse Code using a single blinking eye as the method of communicating.
I intend to deepen my investigation into non-verbal communication and coded messages. I will still practice ‘not-knowing’ therefore further research into any line of enquiry will determine the outcome. I will still ‘play’ and explore ideas fed from research. My background in advertising and design may determine certain ways of communicating any uncovered ideas.
I am also looking at sound as a medium, in particular, combining sound with sculpture and as a response to the viewer and their presence in a space.
