Chloe Chenery
Chloe Chenery’s work draws from concepts explored in Existentialism, Absurdism and the Dada movement. Her work addresses themes including but not limited to; philosophy, emotional purging, mental health, relatability and honesty.
Her poems and paintings are created using text taken from micaceous books, magazines, articles, conversations and diary entries. Chenery is interested in the notion that meaning is a conscious choice and not pre-ordained, this is demonstrated in her method of cut-up poetry. The repurposed text opens up a dialogue concerning the value of context in relation to language presented in conceptual art. As a text based artist communication between the art and viewer is key. Via the use of direct address, you are encouraged to place yourself in the art, allowing you to consider what may be relevant to yourself and your own life.
