BA (Hons) Design for Publishing
Dan Ayris
I am a graphic designer specializing in editorial design, centring my practice around social, cultural and political issues.
During my time at university, I have explored the neurological processes of consuming visual information within my discipline, which has given me a better understanding of the emotional and behavioural influence of design. This knowledge of how we respond to language, and the connection between design and emotion, has become a catalyst for my creative process. It allows me the creative freedom to challenge an audience with my designs, whilst ensuring that socially-charged issues are still being communicated effectively.
My degree at NUA gave me opportunities to expand my creative practice and industry experience. Through live briefs, competitions and my experience as Design Director for Storehouse Magazine (the official magazine of the NUA Students’ Union) I have experienced running a design team and have developed strong project management and teamwork skills.
