Dean Jay Kottmeyer-West

BA (Hons) Games Art and Design

BA Hons Game Art and Design by Dean Jay Kottmeyer-West showing an action scene of two animal heroes, a crocodile and numbat, mid battle with an ominous shadow of the humanoid enemy embodiment of poaching.

I am initiative-taking and eager to learn new techniques and skills — teaching myself to use professional software like Zbrush and Substance Painter to broaden my horizons. I have proven myself capable of rising to the occasion should I have to go beyond, shown as I moved from concept artist to character modeller in an internal Game Jam — sparking my self-taught journey through 3D. I am open to criticism to better myself and I have excellent communication skills which I was able to prove in my ODDBUG Studio work experience, as Lead character artist for that task.

I also gained great feedback from winning Second place in the Sumo Digital art test contest, their constructive criticism helping guide my direction in the final sprint of my design process. Being able to follow the character design pipeline from start to finish has helped me to better organise and improve efficiency in the design flow as it showed me how the importance of each stage effects the next.
