Ellen Brown is primarily a portrait photographer, shooting for brands and performers in Norwich and London. Her personal work is often fine art based and includes bold colours and striking set design, which she creates and builds herself, using second hand furniture and sustainable materials.

The images she makes are often intimate, bold in colour and full of hidden meanings with controlled lighting and dark shadows. It tackles issues such as childhood trauma, love, loss and mental health as well as her experience as a woman and feminist. While she mainly photographs people, she has recently begun to explore still life and creating scenes to further portray her difficult and complex themes.
