Ellen Hilton

BA (Hons) Design for Publishing

FMP Editorial Magazine Design By Ellen Hilton. Showing a colourful spread from one of the pages.

I have been able to grow as a designer throughout my degree through adapting and progressing my skills in graphic design. I have been able to develop specific skills in editorial design and typography through group work as well as working on my own. Creating my own typeface at the beginning of my third year allowed me to develop my skills in this area and practice an art I was unfamiliar with.

The front cover of the magazine, designed to look calming and relaxing to the reader depicted by cool blue tones and a calming image.

The projects I have been involved in allowed me to develop my resilience when responding to feedback and showing my attention to detail in my later work in my third year. This has also allowed me to progress my flexibility and adaptability through completing my degree during a pandemic and working from home.
