Ellie Pashley

BA (Hons) Photography

Taking a sponge cake and creating it as literal as what it is called.
AOP logo

Through still life photography I love creating humour and playfulness within my work, using bright colours and a range of objects to create surreal scenes that draw your attention. I take direct approaches to my subjects with the experimentation of lighting techniques and compositions to create sharp and striking scenes.

A mixture of string and lego to create the illusion of ramen, to be eaten with the pencil chopsticks.

Recently graduating from BA (Hons) Photography at NUA, I have reflected on the skills I have gained and understood how I can transfer and use them within my future career. I have gained technical skills, taking the photographs right through to postproduction as well as transferable skills such as working with people/customers, and attention to detail throughout my still life photography.

Instead of using chopsticks for noodles, why not use them for fizzy rainbow belts.

Creating the juxtaposition of a kinder egg and a real egg, who can tell the difference?

Giving the illusion of an ice cream dropped on the floor, but it will not melt when it is a sponge.
