Elly Lynn
BA (Hons) Fine Art
Maybe the strongest driving force in Elly Lynn’s practice is her crustacean fixation, with a particular obsession with the prawn. Her practice lives in the world of and for the world of the prawn, trying to raise the humble prawn to deity status through casting in fine metals and repeated use of their imagery.
Her work is also based upon the exploration of the female form, continually trying to find its liberation through its appearances in her practice and finding ways to marry the seemingly separate elements of her work through the continued theme and notion of ritual.
Lynn sees this element of ritual as the thread that ties it all together, giving her ways to actualise and explore her interests in the ideas of connection, liberation, body modification, fertility and spirituality.
