BA (Hons) Textile Design
Emilia’s passion for Japanese culture inspired this collection of designs. Using this cultural theme, designs have been informed by Japanese architecture, art, plant life, the nation’s spirituality and philosophies.
The collection has been created using many different types of media such as gouache, watercolour and oil pastels. The use of mixed media is important to the process, giving her drawings different textures and qualities. Photoshop has been used to edit and combine her drawings into repeat designs. Photoshop has been used to a highly professional level to achieve complex repeat structures for a wide range of contexts, including interior intending to add interest to interior spaces.
Having worked with Interior Designer Ali Cottrell on a live brief, Emilia has been able to draw on her industrial experience of designing a collection of repeat prints for interiors, this experience has informed the professional development of the collection.
