BA (Hons) Textile Design
Emma Cutts
Throughout my degree I have always been motivated by the experimentation of unconventional materials through knit and crochet. I specialise in machine knitting, both domestic and industrial which I utilise to strengths by pushing traditional boundaries. Themes of sustainability and gender neutrality are considered throughout my practice, which are some of my strong interests. My final major project explored modular function within knitwear with a focus on versatility.
Visual, conceptual and material inspiration was taken from the construction of buildings, both domestic and industrial to create adaptable samples. My intention is for the wearer to become the designer in order to create endless possibilities for garments, transforming workwear into knitwear. I would like to explore these themes further through a postgraduate study and push myself as a designer.
