BA (Hons) Illustration
Erin-Jaye Hodgkinson
Throughout my time here at NUA I have focused on Surface Pattern Design, and the way Illustration plays a huge part in our everyday lives. We all use pattern and colour to represent ourselves; to show the world who we are, and who we’d like to be. I love the way that Pattern Design is everywhere, from our walls to our wardrobes, the phone we look at every day and the mugs we drink out of.
The aim for my FMP was to create a print collection, exploring themes of femininity, positivity and current trends. My detailed research and analysis of design and trends through this project gave me key insights into the world of Surface Pattern Design, that I hope to continue to use in my career as an Illustrator.
Aside from Surface Pattern Design, I love to create soft, floral Illustrations in a variety of media. I have worked on a range of different projects (Including a fundraising Phone Wallpaper pack for The Trussell Trust, and collaborations with Aballone Magazine, Stickerapp, Aesthentials and NoIssue) and have created my own e-commerce brand, Chai Designs! I have first-hand knowledge of designing products, marketing, working to tight deadlines, and adapting work to fit client briefs.
