Gabriela was born in Poland and her experiences with dancing from an early age alongside her cultural heritage have had an evident impact on her textiles practice. She is passionate about research and bespoke passementerie (trimmings), and her work experience at the Costume and Textiles Study Centre allowed her to study intricate designs in detail, further informing her own weave designs. Gabriela is also interested in the ‘SLOW’ thinking movement, which directly informed her dissertation, focussing on the wellbeing and healing properties of craft, and working in communities.
