Grace Anna Bridges

BA (Hons) Fashion

'BA Fashion Design work by Grace Bridges inspired by depression: showing a skintight "skin fabric" dress adorned in 70+ dyed abstract panels that cover the top portion of the dress.'

My name is Grace, I am a recent graduate of BA Fashion with a specialised interest in womenswear and textiles print. I often draw inspiration from nature, current affairs, and important world issues, which in turn help me create a unique look with context and deep meaning. I try and keep my ideas new and fresh whilst also looking to historical references to give it substance.

I am a very conscientious individual able to adapt to new situations well, whilst working collaboratively providing a supportive partnership between colleagues. The focus of my third year collection portrays the journey of therapy creating a sense of unity amongst myself and others, showing that your negative thoughts and feelings are valid. My career aspirations post-graduation are to work in bespoke fashion, later progressing to red carpet and Met Gala looks.

look 2 A collage of images showing the second outfit from my graduate collection. This outfit contains a severely cropped wool jacket, with exaggerated shoulders and a cut out detail in the back. This is paired with a collared cotton bib, layered underneath a stretchy low cut jumpsuit. To finish off the look I have created a denim under-bust, boned corset, with side cut outs. Attached to a crinoline like half skirt, made out of suiting and boning. Through this outfit I wanted to show how someone can look their best from the front, but can still be going through a hard time behind closed doors. The asymmetry throughout the garments, represents this image slowly falling apart revealing an individuals vulnerabilities. A collage of images showing the second outfit from my graduate collection.
