Grace Morley
Grace uses the stereotypical comfort of knit to play with the contradictory idea of feeling uncomfortable. This sculptural project focusses on the discomfort surrounding her own sexuality, and aims to force the viewer to share this discomfort. Sickly sweet materials have been juxtaposed with knitted fabrics to make pieces that both seduce and repulse the audience simultaneously.
Her work is predominantly autobiographical and taboo, discussing subjects which evoke negative feelings, but uses playful and childlike textures and colours to contrast this narrative that has a more serious undertone.
