Jacob Millington

BA (Hons) Textile Design

BA Textiles Design, woven textile by Jacob Millington. Close up image of woven fabric with alternating blocks that show stripes of green and red, over the brown and grey background
NUA Award Winner

I am graduating from Norwich University of the Arts with a degree in Textile Design, specialising in woven structure. Throughout my studies I have always loved to explore exciting new ways of weaving, showing great attention to detail in forming the structure of the weave, and how that may help tell the story of the piece. I have developed systems to explore this further by investigating the idea of conscious and unconscious creativity through a process-based project that explores these concepts by experimenting with the ideas of structure, colour, and scale. This has led me to the creation of my fabrics that are both the work and a by-product of the creative activity.

BA Textiles Design, woven textile by Jacob Millington. 3 final pieces layered next to each other, showing both the difference in design, while showing a consistent red stripe throughout them all.

It has always been important to me to get feedback from people outside of the project, to I ensure that I regularly check with people on what they think about the project and how they perceived the ideas behind the work. This helped improve my communication skills, all while responding to the feedback I was given.
