BA (Hons) Fashion
Jacqueline Barker
My creative journey throughout my degree has enabled me to bring my passion for theatre and costume into my design process and push myself creatively by mixing historical, constructional and contemporary elements all together.
Throughput my degree I have balanced working as a costume designer with full time study and have excellent organisation and communication skills. In my second year I undertook a work placement at the Royal Opera House in the Men’s Costume Department and that summer worked on a film as a costume trainee.
My work focuses on the technical aspect of fashion design, using moulage and 3D fabric manipulation to build structures away from the body to create interesting and strong silhouettes. I have tailored my degree to expand my skills in pattern cutting and garment manufacture, as well as to gain a wider knowledge of different technical and tailoring techniques.
