BA (Hons) Design for Publishing
Jana Giles
Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation
An editorial designer specialising across print, digital and spatial platforms. My practice is grounded in research, conceptual experimentation, form, materiality and context, with an emphasis on typography and craft. I have experience working in a small design studio in Copenhagen, which allowed me to be involved in the processes of conceptualisation, design, collaboration, art direction, editing and production, taking projects from first concept to final product.
My practice spans the cultural, social and geographical, encompassing editorial, exhibition and identity design. Recent projects include the creation of a magazine and typeface exploring migration, an identity for the 2020 Venice Biennale, a tactile A2 monograph for the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, and the concept and identity for an exhibition exploring perception at the Tate Modern.
