Jessica Marwood

BA (Hons) Illustration

Title page for a project exploring the impacts humans have on the environment. Illustration of the Earth in space, surrounded by stars. A black box is over the centre of the Earth, with the words 'The Human Impact' hand-drawn in blue outline.

My practice of illustration and design allows me to understand the power of visual communication as a tool of expression, learning and discovery. This is how I utilise my creativity as a platform to promote the themes of sustainability, wellbeing and whimsy that run throughout my work. I love exploring ideas, using bold colours and shapes to intrigue my viewers and excite their visual senses while presenting my unique interpretation of the subject.

Having experienced working in a variety of media, including analogue practices of image-making, print and construction, as well as via digital platforms such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Procreate, I can explore my enthusiasm for learning and collaboration. In doing so, strengthening my practice and building my knowledge and understanding of the concept that surrounds each individual project.

An account of human impacts on the environment throughout time and the future this could create for our planet, told through a graphic novel style poster.
The ways in which we can introduce small practices of sustainability into our lives to establish environmental stability as a society, told through a graphic novel style poster.
