Joe Hamilton

BA (Hons) Games Art and Design

BA Games Art and Design work by Joe Hamilton showing a screenshot of a Medieval environment for the multiplayer game

I specialise in indie development and am passionate about creating multiplayer experiences in UE4. Ascendance — my final major project — is a multiplayer first-person shooter where Niall Colvin and I lead a multidisciplinary team of five people. During the project, I built upon my management and communication skills, collaborating with other students to produce a polished and fun multiplayer experience. We performed large playtests of up to twelve players, which allowed us to receive relevant feedback from our target audience and make appropriate changes to improve the gaming experience.

Additionally, I entered a variety of game jams, for example, Power Prey for the Global Games Jam; these jams allowed me to gain experience working under time pressure using the management and organisational skills I have developed throughout university.
