Julian Giacomelli

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Bronze Sculpture work by Julian Giacomelli of two faces on each end in a biomorphic style, one frowning and the other laughing.

The artist uses contemporary digital media such as AI and various digital manipulation programs alongside traditional bronze work to create emotionally driven work, which consists of a commentary on different contemporary socio-political issues and events as well as ongoing movements in the world today.

The artist’s choice of media reflects the world we live in today and its controversies. AI for example has been littered with criticism in the creative world and is regularly considered unauthentic. Whilst bronze is a laborious, respected, and traditional medium juxtaposing the ‘easy’ and ‘effortless’ landscape of AI.

The artist finds this chaotic and controversial space ideal for communicating their intentions. These are about the suffering and injustices done to the people that live in this world and are continuously affected by these socio-political events and legislature that’s passed against them in order to limit society’s progression with the times.
