Kamila Jakubiak
BA (Hons) Fine Art
My philosophy is a very simple one: I believe in creativity, imagination, and self-expression. I am a painter. I believe art plays a great importance in expressing oneself. A painting at its best, and in any era, should be provoking the viewer into areas of new thought and feeling.
I create my work in response to political issues of the modern day Women Rights. I am a Polish-born artist and I focus on those issues in my country of birth, where women are currently put in great danger physically and mentally due to having most restrictive abortion rights in the EU.
The current theme of my work is meant for a mature audience as it is meant to evoke the feeling of grief, danger and suffering. I allow my emotional response to take over the canvas.
I do not use any specific materials for my work – I have become more experimental with using plaster, PVA, house paint, acrylic, oils and many more. But the variable that does not change is the colour RED.
