The prolonged changes in the East of Hull has left the area heavily industrialised. Where it was once flood plains it is now scattered with warehousing and car parks.
My scheme provides a place for the population to live-work and re-establish this wildlife that was previously lost. The City wants a more Green agenda, proposing it becomes a Butterfly City, where trees and shrubbery are planted, to encourage a more biodiverse ecology.
My building provides extensive open-plan residential living with interior and exterior workshops, offering a community-led learning environment to educate the population about urban horticulture.
Hand-drawing allowed me freedom to experiment with forms while ArchiCAD provided the scheme a 3D platform. The Adobe suit further added life to the images, to show the potential of Hull.
Creating this space in Hull will allow the people to enjoy a greener city for future generations.
