BA (Hons) Fashion
I am a womenswear designer specialising in pattern cutting, tailoring and production.
I enjoy experimenting with the use of unconventional materials and creating geometrical shapes and structures using fabrication. My final collection started off with the idea of crystallising fabrics which then led me to research crystalline forms and geodes. I intended to create the perfect crystalline shapes by pattern cutting and the use of unconventional materials to challenge and broaden my skills.
The outfits created show a variety of expertise from tailoring, to draping, to welding. The choice of materials were inspired by the contrasting effect of crystals within its different types – transparency vs opacity, structure vs soft.
My work is to empower the wearer, by the tailored cut, colour choices and forms. These pieces create a sense of mystery and strength around the wearer.
