Laura Marie Barnwell
BA (Hons) Textile Design
Laura showcases her drawing, collage and hand-painting skills in this graduate collection united through colour to explore design expression. Inspiration is generated through first-hand connections with nature and Laura’s inherent love of organic forms and colour. Through experimental processes, the artwork has been achieved using farrow and ball emulsion paint as a pigment, in both its most potent form and diluted, combined with lined definition.
Compositions and stylising show a diverse hand for altering styles to meet contradictory briefs and an ability to create professionally in an array of commercial directions. Laura has been incredibly successful in competitions in her time at NUA, winning two consecutive prizes with Bradford Textile Society and second place with the fashion and textiles association Scarf competition. Laura was also a runner up in last year’s i-dott Cole and Son’s conversational wallpaper category.
