Lauryn Boon
BA (Hons) Photography
Lauryn Boon is a documentary and observational photographer whose work focuses on themes of community, individuality and everyday life. Growing up in Ipswich, Suffolk and moving to Norwich, Norfolk as a young adult, she has always been drawn to urban, mundane spaces and traces of humanity, which is reflected in her photography.
In her recent projects, Lauryn takes a raw approach to observation whilst still keeping the areas she shoots portrayed as warm and comforting, showing what would usually be missed by a passer-by, in a more eye-catching light. She uses a combination of digital photography and editing to encapsulate the nostalgia of green hues and grainy textures seen in analogue photography inspired by her roots in photography – her old family photo box – and the likes of Martin Parr and Niall McDiarmid.
Lauryn’s work has been featured in publications such as F-Stop Magazine, Contrivance Magazine and, most recently, Docu Magazine’s ‘Docu Book Vol 18’.
