Lucy Jane Staniforth

BA (Hons) Textile Design

A variety of fabrics laid out neatly, consisting of geometric designs using primary colours to layer and produce new colours. Used for transportation seating.

I am a graduate Textile Designer aspiring to work in surface pattern design in the field of interiors, hopefully specialising in furniture design. My work has evolved into producing digital and screen print designs that can be seen as standalone pieces or complement with their contrast.

The collection ‘Restricted Freedom’ was initially inspired by post-war modernist movements such as constructivism and abstract expressionism allowing me to explore free and personal expression through mark making and colour. A key element in my design development is to explore how shapes and colours interact, by looking at the contrasts they create between geometric and abstract pattern.

Whilst at university I have undertaken part time employment with a local property developer that specialises in listed buildings. This has given me a great opportunity to study design over different periods first hand plus the work ethic that is required to assist on such projects.

Consisting of geometric designs draping down a plinth, designed for transportation seating. Using vibrant colours and geometric shapes to make the pattern intriguing to the eye.
