Lucy Michelle Taylor

BA (Hons) Illustration

A photograph of printed zine 'Always in Fear' by Lucy Taylor. The front cover shows a road and pathway, lined by green hedges. Creeping on to the side of the zine is a red car, with headlights on. A lamppost shines a light downward, revealing the title of the zine. A small foot can be seen leaving the other side of the page, as if walking out of the frame

As an illustrator, I want to fulfil and engage in new ideas to please my audience with my digital illustration style. Working on live briefs has taught me that communication, attention to detail and being open to collaboration are very important and is a good way to start and make great working relationships. I also take pride in meeting deadlines and handling my time management skills.

'Always in Fear' Zine, inside pages 5&6 showing the midriff of a woman in a purple jumper and blue trousers, carrying keys in a bunched fist, using light and dark tones to create disturbance.

My time at NUA has provided many opportunities to expand my practice. It has also helped me discover that I want my practice to focus on working with clients who empower women and support women’s rights and safety. My practice this year has been dedicated to women’s rights focusing on women’s safety issues. My zine ‘Always in Fear’ is about how women feel walking alone at night and touches upon their feelings of anxiety and paranoia.
