Madeleine Bullingham

BA (Hons) Illustration

BA Illustration wall hanging made from different shades of blue fabric pieces produced through cyanotype, hand stitched together to create a map composition of Norwich city highlighting some of the Haunted hotspots.

I am an illustrator, maker and visual communicator with a process-led approach to creative work. I specialise in collage, driven by my use of colour, form, and composition with a considered and extensive use of materials. My practice involves textile-based techniques, like embroidery, dying and printing on fabric. Producing work like this has been particularly liberating and has created a lot of exciting new avenues for how I want to work.

Working with textiles is not unfamiliar to me, and I have found my practice coming full circle with the decision to sew and embroider as a way of drawing. My enthusiasm to stitch and combine materials came back through my foundation year, so I decided to combine mixed media and stitch into my Illustration degree from the get-go.
