Madison Powlesland

BA (Hons) Illustration

Lino print by Madison Powlesland showing a set of three tulip flowers.

My work is centred around printmaking and botanical illustration, both of which I developed a passion for throughout my time at university. I love flowers and botanicals and researching their meanings, and have found a way to apply this to my work. I really enjoy developing and creating practical applications for my work and have been looking into greetings cards, decorative envelopes, and developing repeating patterns from my designs.

Throughout my degree I have learnt to step out of my comfort zone and be more experimental with my methods and media. This has led me to develop my printmaking skills and be able to create bright and fun floral imagery, experimenting with collage and colour within my lino prints.
