BA (Hons) Textile Design
During the course of my Textiles degree, I have gained a wide range of skills in processes such as screen printing, weaving, and knitting. I have explored and developed my skills in print design and drawing in particular, and I have developed a love for creating illustrated printed fabrics, especially for children.
My work is underpinned by the desire to offer a benefit to a person’s wellbeing through the drawings and textures that I create in fabric. My final major project at university is a collection called ‘Kind Creatures’, which consists of print patterns that are designed for children aged 2 to 8 and is gender neutral.
There is a focus on character design along with the influence of current and future interior design trends. The aim for this project was to create a range of children’s patterns with the design process guided by the mind of a child, so that the patterns appeal to children as they are engaging and exciting, with well thought out design.
