BA (Hons) Illustration
My work has a nature focus and is mainly aimed at children. Through paper cuttings, which I print and cut myself, I layer up detailed images to use in wider scenes. Recently I enjoyed creating my own brief; a book utilising nature based paper cuttings, helping children learning to count. I have enjoyed working on multiple outcomes for the brief including activity booklets, iron on patches, and pop-up promotional desk trees.
Adapting to working from home and utilising the available tools for the outcome I wanted was a key part of my final year, and I enjoyed the challenge that being more independent and resourceful brought. Communicating with external suppliers was something I learnt when getting the book printed, using online conversations to ensure my work was being presented to the highest quality finish. I payed close attention to using appropriate materials such as getting the book printed onto recycled paper, and my business cards on seeded paper, a process I throughly enjoyed.
