Martyna Kowalska

BA (Hons) Games Art and Design

BA Games Art and Design work by Martyna Kowalska showing a matte painting of a Hong Kong-inspired cyberpunk city.
NUA Award Winner

As an aspiring concept artist and background illustrator, I specialise in visualising spaces that enrich the narrative of games and invite the player to explore virtual worlds. I am particularly interested in incorporating modern architectural design and matte painting techniques into my art. I have excellent software skills—including, but not limited to, the Adobe Suite—developed through self-practice and work experience with Dovetail Games.

During my studies, I also had the opportunity to expand my creative practice and work as a Gallery Assistant at the East Gallery (NUA). This led to my interest in curating and volunteering at YNA Collective and Norwich Castle Young Art Advocates, where I focused on how modern technologies can be used in traditional art spaces. The acquired education and professional work have provided me with strong organisational and problem-solving skills, as well as experience working in a big team.
