Megan Spires

BA (Hons) Fine Art

BA fine art work by M.Spires showing a A.I generated image of a unnatural room

‘Exploring the maw by falling into it. For what seemed like an eternity I tried to find a way out’
The medias Megan uses are soundscapes to create ambient tracks. She also uses video with photography and working with AI. The context of her work is a feeling of being unsettled, this is explored through the idea of isolation and the term liminal spaces. She also explores the theme of feeling unsettled by combining both analogue with more contemporary processes to find unnatural elements of both.

Her current practice also uses analogue formats such as cassette tape or reel-to-reel. This is a process that helped her generate soundscapes as she enjoys the imperfections that the format gives. By adding effects to the audio to make them seem as they exist in the physical world rather than online digitally. She uses AI as a tool to create sound and imagery that gives a feeling of the uncanny valley.
