Menna Silcock
BA (Hons) Illustration
Throughout my education at NUA, I have discovered a passion for narrative illustration and communicating ideas through imagery alone. From analysing Scott McCloud’s ‘Understanding Comics’ for my Research Report, I realised the importance of page composition and panel transitions while developing an illustrative style that feels personal to me.
My confidence has also improved as I experimented with different mediums, such as linocut printing. I have also found the time to slow down and pay greater attention to detail in my work. My practice feels endless as there is always something new to discover and relish.
Coming out of university, I feel happy with the image I have created for myself, as it feels authentic and reflects my personality, which is very important to me. I want to enter the illustration industry being the most honest version of myself and enjoying all the opportunities I can get.
