Mila Tsvetanova

BA (Hons) Design for Publishing

A collection of zine spreads designed by Mila Tsvetanova that visually depict the responses of writers from The Asian Articles to the theme of elements.

Hello! I am an editorial designer with a focus on art direction and exploring the interaction between striking images and bold typographic elements. I have a passion for typography and colour and am inspired by my love of modern art. My creative practice is sustained by a desire to create work that is daring. I attempt to challenge social and cultural norms by producing content that is thought-provoking and can serve as a source of empowerment, particularly for women.

A three-spread feature promoting the accurate depiction of female pleasure in the media. The art-directed images celebrated the campaign through the use of balloons, bold styling, and bright colours.

I am a perfectionist and am detail-oriented. Because I work predominantly with words and frequently have to pitch ideas and attend group critiques, I have excellent written and verbal communication skills. My course required me to juggle many briefs simultaneously, so I am also comfortable focusing on multiple projects at once. I have been involved in numerous collaborative publication projects and enjoy working alongside others because I believe that a lot of the best ideas come to fruition when people work together.

A two-spread feature designed by Mila Tsvetanova for Storehouse, NUA’s student-run publication. The content and design interpreted the idea of nostalgia through muted colours and subtle gradients.
Two spreads about Miley Cyrus. Two collages were made using found images of the singer.
