Celebrating our multicultural society and its differences can be most effectively explored and enjoyed through food. This unique cultural eatery is intended to create a sense of ācoming togetherā in a community where there are vast differences in class and income. By manipulating circulation through the space and playing with height of the building, this design aims to encourage a relaxed, comfortable and casual environment for people to come together under the original barrel-vaulted roof of a historic swimming pool to celebrate food, culture and conversation.
The grade II listed swimming pool is located in Hackney amongst shops, bars and residentās buildings. The aim of this project is to bring back life and energy into a space which had a big role in local community memories and encourages social behaviour by focusing on movement and interaction which is designed to challenge the social norms of the experience of dining out.
