I am a weaver. I create hand dyed and hand woven fabrics, careful consideration is taken with the yarn and materials that I use; my current practice is defined through sustainability and circular textiles that can biodegrade without harming the planet. The natural world versus the industrial world fascinates me and therefore, my material led practise focuses on issues around the world, one being climate change.
I often use unconventional materials to explore the structural potential of weaving, often being drawn to manipulating fabrics through the warp and the weft to explore structural possibilities. My design inspiration comes from many places: sustainability, architecture, landscapes and any forms of texture. I like expressionist forms, but also bold, graphic and collage forms too. Sustainable textiles is about responsibility and change within the industry, and I’m starting now.
