Naomi Scott

BA (Hons) Illustration

Abstract book cover illustration for the novel 'Girl, Woman, Other' by Bernadine Evaristo, by Naomi Scott

I am a practising painter and illustrator based in Norwich, with a particular interest in literature and depicting themes around Jewish identity and faith. My practice is informed by my background and upbringing in the Jewish faith, in which I explore what Jewish identity is. In my dissertation, I also researched into more depth about this subject, and I am heavily influenced by Jewish artists such as Marc Chagall.

I am also inspired by architecture and the sense of a place in my work, which often acts as a starting point for developing my images. I enjoy working with oil paint to create bold, energetic, abstract painterly marks. Throughout university, I have been externally involved with youth work, which I really enjoy, as well as working in cafes in Norwich. With these experiences, I have gained strong skills in teamwork and leadership.
