Oliver Ward

BA (Hons) Games Art and Design

BA Hons Games Art & Design work by Oliver Ward showing a Katana Sword model.

After using the recent lockdown as an opportunity to set myself multiple personal projects varying from environment building to texture creation, I have been able to build a strong and varied knowledge of 3D work. I have now been able to take that further in my final year, creating my short film titled ‘Norilska’. Norilska took hundreds of hours of work and allowed me to explore my interests in 3D even further, developing advanced skills in places I had never thought about, such as colour theory and new software like Houdini and Davinci.

As well as Norilska, I am also very proud of the other pieces that I created in my final year. The katana sword was an enjoyable piece to work on and went on to be shared by platforms such as ArtStation, Marmoset Toolbag, and Adobe Substance. The same can be said for the Vietnamese Stove I made around a similar time, for which I was asked to write an interview/article for the popular 3D art website 80.LV.
