‘Beauty Without Harm’. A collection of four candles made for a competition with Oliver Bonas x Fedrigoni Papers. My project is inspired by illegal wildlife trade. Each candle represents one of the four main animals heavily impacted by the illegal trade, and who depend on us to protect them. Each animal is hidden within the outer packaging, until the lid is removed, and they are revealed. Illustrating the animal living peacefully within their habitats. The purpose of my range is to invite the beauty of their homes into ours, in a more ethical way.
I have taken this concept further, and developed a range of handmade homewares, through surface pattern design and textile application. My pattern design showcases all the animals together, surrounded by plant life located within their individual habitats. Using Organic Cotton, my range educates and helps raise awareness about illegal wildlife trade.
